This story is the first in a series that outlines the success of the Local Line + Edacious partnership.

For years, farmers have said local food is healthier. Now, one Pennsylvania ranch has the science to prove it.

Back in February, Local Line, the leading farm-to-fork commerce platform, partnered with Edacious, a cutting-edge nutrition testing lab, to bring nutrient density testing directly to local farms. This partnership makes it easy and affordable for farmers to verify the health benefits of their food and use that data to power stronger brands and higher margins.

Edacious measures key macronutrients like protein and fat as well vitamins, minerals, and more - the kind of information you'd find on a Nutrition Facts label, but goes a step further. With a fast, accessible process, farms can finally move from belief to proof. And that’s exactly what Wyebrook Farm just did!

Wyebrook Farm Puts Numbers Behind Their Nutrition

Wyebrook Farm Edacious Dashboard.

Wyebrook Farm is run by Scott and Jeff, brothers-in-law, dads, and neighbors who took over the farm in 2020 with a shared mission to raise the best possible meat for their families and their community. With deep agricultural roots and a commitment to sustainability, they rebuilt Wyebrook into a decentralized, pasture-based meat operation that supports both the environment and the local economy.

Known for their grass-fed, high-quality meats, Scott and Jeff jumped at the opportunity to back up their health claims with hard data. They submitted a sample of their ground beef to Edacious, and the results were stunning.

Wyebrook’s ground beef provides rich sources of certain nutrients as measured by supplying more than 20% of an individual’s daily value (DV):

  • Total Protein at 41% of DV
  • Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) at 22% of DV
  • Niacin (Vitamin B3) at 22% of DV
  • Zinc at 44% of DV

Compared to conventional USDA ground beef benchmarks, Wyebrook’s beef showed:

Significant Nutritional Improvements:

  • +55% more Omega 3s per gram
  • -52.1% less trans fat per gram
  • +52.9% more Vitamin B2 - Riboflavin per mg
  • +229% more Vitamin A per mg
  • +127.6% more Vitamin E per mg

Moderate Nutritional Improvements:

  • +2.5% more protein per gram
  • +4.2% more healthy fats per gram
  • -2.9% less cholesterol per mg
  • +9.2% more Vitamin B1 - Thiamin per mg
  • +12.1% more potassium per mg
  • +8.9% more magnesium per mg

These numbers don’t just tell a story, they tell the truth. Wyebrook’s beef doesn’t just taste healthier, it is.

“This gives us exactly what we need to support our pricing and sharpen our pitch to health-conscious customers,” Jeff said. “We don’t just say our beef is healthier—we can prove it.”

The Edacious report also opened new doors for improvement. With hard data in hand, Jeff is eager to explore how different variables like grass type, supplemental feed, and animal age affect nutritional outcomes. That kind of insight helps small farms fine-tune operations, resulting in better meat and better farming practices.

Proof is Just the Beginning. You Still Have to Sell It.

Data is powerful. But turning that data into dollars requires strategy.

At Wyebrook, the team plans to leverage their nutrition report to better target families, athletes, and health-conscious buyers. These customers are already looking for healthier food—they just need the evidence to trust what they’re buying.

That’s where Local Line comes in, where Wyebrook Farm has been a customer since 2019.

Local Line equips farms with the tools to sell directly to consumers and wholesale buyers, all in one platform. From online storefronts and inventory management to POS and fulfillment tools, Local Line makes it easy to run a farm-based business.

On top of that, Local Line’s wholesale marketplace connects farms with chefs, grocers, and institutions that are actively seeking clean, traceable food. By combining proof with access, Local Line gives farmers the runway they need to turn better food into better sales.

Helping Farms Build Stronger Businesses

The Local Line + Edacious partnership is just one more way Local Line supports local food producers. With science-backed testing and powerful sales tools, farmers can now prove the value of their food and get paid for it.

“It’s one thing to say it, another thing to prove it, but then you’ve gotta sell it,” said Cole. “That’s where Local Line comes in.”
