Selling to large foodservice customers has historically required local food suppliers to bend their business to fit rigid procurement systems including new pricing models, advanced logistics, or wholesale programs that weren’t designed for small and mid-sized producers. At Local Line, we believe market access should work the other way around. When local suppliers can plug into existing distribution channels without fundamentally changing how they operate, farms generate new sales, chefs discover differentiated products, and the food supply chain becomes more resilient.
Local Line is excited to work with Gordon Food Service (GFS), America’s largest family-owned broadline distributor, to list local food products on GFS Endless Aisle, GFS’s digital marketplace designed to help chefs and foodservice operators discover unique and hard-to-source local items beyond the traditional catalog.
GFS Endless Aisle is an open marketplace that allows chefs, restaurants, and foodservice operators to browse and purchase a wide range of products including local and regional items, directly from producers. Unlike traditional distributor catalogs, Endless Aisle is designed to expand choice and flexibility, giving operators access to products that may not otherwise be available through standard distribution channels.
As is standard with other marketplace concepts, products are shipped directly from the supplier to the customer, bypassing the GFS warehouse. All orders, invoices, and payments flow centrally through GFS.
Importantly, the platform is open to all chefs and operators, not just existing GFS customers, which broadens exposure for suppliers and increases the potential to acquire new customers.
Through this partnership, farms and food hubs using Local Line can now list their products on the GFS Endless Aisle platform. This gives suppliers instant visibility to thousands of chefs actively looking for unique, high-quality products.
Orders placed through Endless Aisle flow directly into suppliers’ existing Local Line accounts, allowing them to manage pricing, inventory, and fulfillment using the features they already rely on.
While similar in spirit to other distributor marketplace programs, GFS Endless Aisle offers important distinctions that make it particularly well-suited for local suppliers:
Local food suppliers often produce exactly what chefs want but lack efficient pathways into large-scale foodservice procurement. GFS Endless Aisle changes that equation by combining national reach with local sourcing, and Local Line ensures suppliers can participate without taking on unnecessary operational complexity.
Together, we’re creating a more inclusive, flexible, and scalable way for local food to move from farms to professional kitchens, all while preserving the independence and business models that make local suppliers successful in the first place.
