Local Line is partnering with US Foods to expand access to our vendor’s products across the foodservice industry by bringing farm-direct products onto the US Foods Direct platform. This arrangement enables farms and food hubs using Local Line to list their products on US Foods Direct, the dropship marketplace used by US Foods customers nationwide.

Through this opportunity, farms and food hubs on Local Line can now reach thousands of new customers without changing how they manage orders or inventory. Chefs and foodservice operators using US Foods Direct can browse and purchase products directly from farms through the platform they already use, while farms receive those orders seamlessly within their existing Local Line accounts.

How It Works

Farms and food hubs participating in the program begin by creating a dedicated US Foods price list within their Local Line account. This price list includes all required product information, such as pricing, case weights, packaging details, and shipping requirements. Inventory levels are expected to be updated daily, while pricing can be updated weekly.

Once products are configured, a member of the Local Line team uploads those listings to the US Foods Direct platform on a daily basis. US Foods customers can then browse available products and place orders directly through the US Foods Direct portal.

When an order is placed, it’ll flow into the farm’s Local Line account. Farms prepare the order for shipment, and all orders are shipped via FedEx directly from the farm to the restaurant. Shipping labels can be printed directly from Local Line, and farms do not pay shipping costs. Instead, products are sold using FOB pricing.

Farms are paid via ACH directly from Local Line on net-30 terms, providing a predictable and streamlined payment process.

Pricing and Fees

Local Line charges a one-time setup fee of $250 to participate in the US Foods Direct program. In addition, a 3% sales fee applies to all orders received through the platform. There are no other fees or hidden costs associated with the program, and US Foods does not charge suppliers any fees to be listed.

What to Expect in Terms of Orders

Orders through US Foods Direct are not guaranteed. However, US Foods is a well-established distributor, and Local Line will not onboard farms or food hubs to the program without confidence that there is real demand for their products.

Farms are encouraged to promote their US Foods Direct listings directly to customers and chefs they already work with, letting them know their products are now available through the platform.

How to Get Started

To get started, farms and food hubs should first create a new price list in their Local Line account and name it “US Foods.” From there, they can add the products they wish to offer to US Foods customers.

Once the price list is complete, farms should contact their Local Line support representative. The Local Line team will review the product information and, once everything is ready, submit the listings to US Foods for inclusion on the US Foods Direct platform.
